HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX [review]
So everybody has seen this right? well if not, don't follow the cut, because there's some monster spoilers. It's okay if you just read the book though. But if you have neither read the book nor seen the movie I wouldn't recommend continuing...
Okay, so I think the fifth book was probably my favorite out of all the Harry Potter books (although that's not entirely accurate since I can't make that decision without reading the seventh, which I'm totally buying the moment it's released!). I mean, with all the bits of Sirius. I mean, he's one of my all time favorite characters. I just love him. Maybe it's because I have this affinity for Gary Oldman. That's why I like Snape. I mean, I hate him in the books. Have since the very first one, but I love Alan Rickman (and his awesome voice) so much that I kind of like movie-Snape. Who knows, whether it's the character or Gary [Oldman] that draws me to Sirius. It may just be my love of bad boys.
Okay, so let me start this off by saying that Daniel Radcliff does an absolutely amazing in this installment. In the fifth book Harry is so incredibly angry all the time due to his connection to Voldemort (no, I'm not afraid to say it), Dumbledore basically ignoring him, being left out of the loop on what the order is doing and the fact that the majority of the wizarding world has turned against him. On top of all that he has his first girlfriend who cries at the drop of a hat and an insane, torturous, evil and pink woman for the teacher of his favorite subject. I'd be angry too. Plus he's a teenager, which everyone knows is a very angry time.
Of course what I'm really talking about is the scene where Bellatrix kills Sirius and he disappears. With Lupin holding him back and his screaming, the way he runs after Sirius's murderer and uses the cruciatus (or however it's spelled) on her, but still can't mean it. Even more was the acting during the whole 'posessed' scene. It could have easily been over-acted by Radcliff and it isn't. Even though it is painfully over-acted by Ralph Fiennes, with his cheesy bad-guyness. Hopefully he's got it down better by the 6th movie, because he has a tendency to over-act in parts of the 5th and 4th movies. Although I've never been an evil wizard back from the grave that looks like a snake I still don't think he'd be that over done. Anyway, I like how he played the scene where Sirius dies, and it almost makes me look forward to the scene where Dumbledore dies in the 6th book... but almost doesn't count because I still refuse to accept that he's dead so...
Another thing that I like is that neither Emma Watson nor Rupert Grint overacted in this movie like the previous two. And that the boys all got their hair cut!
I cried when Sirius Black died, well teared up, even though I knew it was coming. I mean, it's one thing reading about it but actually being able to see what you imagined, it's makes it worse.
I like how they really made sure to push the point that Harry had found a home with Sirius and a family with the Weasleys. I also like how they made sure to include the fact that everyone has to tell Harry that he isn't alone. That was a big part of the book and sometimes they have to leave out even the big parts because of time.
There really isn't much else to say about the movie except for the fact that it's Harry Potter. I was all indignant about someone saying that it was the same story different year, but the truth is that it really is. Same situation really, they're just another year older.
