YAY! I finally got to see the movie I've been bugging people about for months... I am such a complete dork, because I nearly had to drag my roomie to it with me, but fortunately my mom showed up after the holiday to go to it with me. She even did the immense favor of making me feel like less of a dork by being able to call out Optimus Prime's name before it was mentioned.

SPOILERS AHEAD

okay, so the best part of the movie was its sense of humor. Normally these big action movies take themselves so seriously that they end up being quite a bit ridiculous, but with the right amount of humor it can take the movie from stupid to spectacular.

The movie had everything I love, which means explosions, a bit of sci-fi, and violence. A movie's that premise is an alien robotic race bringing their war to our world always promises violence and explosions.

I absolutely loved the Camero-bot, 'Bumblebee', he was adorable. The thing I was totally in love with was the fact that they spoke, it made it a little cheesy. But of course it's based on a cartoon based on a toy, so no matter what we were always in for a little cheese. But with the heartwarming moments between man and machine and the comedic moments mostly given by Sam's(Shia LaBeouf) parents.

The whole thing is about robots in search of the Allspark (the source of their power). There are the bad robots, Deceptrons, and the good robots, autobots. There isn't a lot of interaction between the two for a good portion of the movie, but near the end there is a major battle that takes place in downtown LA.

Sam is played by Shia LaBeouf. A boy who once upon a time was near frightening with his frizzy fro-like hair that was crazy and his over-zealous over-done personality on the now cancelled Disney series, Even Stevens. He was gross and I felt bad that he'd never get a girlfriend with that face and that hair and that squeaky voice. Now look at him, he's hot. I saw it a little when he had that little role as Will Smith's sidekick in I, ROBOT. Then there was his starring role as one of the hottest juvenile delinquints in DISTURBIA. I've kind of been pimping him since then. I loved him in THE GREATEST GAME EVER PLAYED, but he was more of a geek in that movie (he played golf, that's monstrously geeky). But all these movies have shown different sides to his talent, his ability to carry a movie on his own and his ability to do genres. He proved he can do kids shows, comedy, action, drama and horror. Now all he has to do is get a romanctic drama under his belt and he's good. I'd say a romantic comedy, but honestly it takes little to no talent to do those movies and they honestly are like empty movies. You forget hours later. I can't wait until the new INDIANA JONES movie comes out, because we'll get Shia and Harrison... The girl, Megan Fox, who plays Mikaela does a good job for a girl that has probably never worked with a green screen before. Her only other movies were an Olsen Twins flick from back in the day and CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE DRAMA QUEEN (which I hated, btw) so she doesn't have an experience on an action movie set. She held her own pretty well.

The movie's plot moved along pretty well, there weren't any real hitches in it. Normally there is a big hitch in the plot, but with Spielberg behind the scenes as producer his usual perfectionism shines through.
