Okay, I knew that this wasn't going to be as good as the first one. First of all it's a sequel and the only sequel I've ever seen that was as good as the first was THE GODFATHER's sequels. Then there was a fact that they took the original concept and watered it down, taking it from R ratings to PG-13. Half the humor was in the inappropriate profanity. When at first the movies were funny and the spoofing of the horror movies were cleverly done, this one was just too much.
It spoofs box office hits (and misses), making a mockery of the following movies: SAW, THE VILLAGE, THE GRUDGE, WAR OF THE WORLDS and BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. Cindy's new love interest is Tom Ryan (interstingly he shares a first name with Tom Cruise, star of WAR OF THE WORLDS whose role he seems to be taking over), after it's revealed that her former flame (from the third installment, Simon Rex) killed himself. Charlie Sheen has a brief cameo where he wakes up with a bunch of women and tries to kill himself by swallowing a bottle of sleeping pills. Instead he takes a bottle of viagra and his dick grows uncontrollable and while trying to control it he falls off the balcony... dick first.
Cindy becomes a caregiver for an elderly lady, and THE GRUDGE comes into play in the house. Aliens try to take over the world and fail. The movie goes by in a blur, with many jokes that don't quite hit home and some that remarkably hit the mark. The best part of the movie for me was the ending (mostly because it was finally over) when Tom Ryan reinacts Tom Cruise's infamous couch scene on Oprah. The movie ends with his freak out, the screen blacking out as he 'eats' the camera.
I personally didn't like this one, I loved the first one and like the the third and completely missed the second, which one day I will see. Sadly I couldn't get into the movie, not like I did in the past. Maybe it was because I didn't see SAW, didn't like THE VILLAGE or WAR OF THE WORLDS and I didn't think THE GRUDGE was at all scary. I miss the SCARY MOVIE day of yore when they had good movies to spoof (SCREAM and I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER). I haven't seen a truly scary movie in years and the sequel to THE RING was just a big disappointment! Bring back the old days, when movies were scary and spoofs were funny.
